My name is Br. David Nyamuronda C.Ss.R, a member of the Redemptorist Region of Zimbabwe and currently working as the Director of Caritas Zimbabwe, Archdiocese of Harare. Caritas Zimbabwe is the social development arm of the Catholic Church and a member of Caritas Internationalis (CI) which was formed in 1972 by the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishop’s Conference. In Zimbabwe Caritas operates under PVO Number: 25/2014. Caritas Harare focuses on relief, development and social services within the Archdiocese and is mandated to implement sustainable development projects and also respond to emergencies. The organization works under guidance of the Catholic Social Teachings and the 2014- 2018 Strategic Plan which has the following Thematic Areas:
- Caritas Identity & Capacity
- Emergency Preparedness and relief
- Sustainable livelihoods
- Environment & Environment Health
- Advocacy and lobbying.
My principal role is to generate funds for development programmes. In 2017, we raised funds from the following sources.
