PROFESSION OF DOMINIC KOFI AMPOMAH GYANKYE

July 21st 2012 will remain a red-letter day for the Province of South Africa. In addition to the ordination of Julius Maisiti in Lusaka we celebrated the first Profession of Dominic Ampomah in Howick KwaZulu-Natal.

Dominic hails from Ghana but was living in South Africa when he first made contact with the Redemptorists. His brother Dan and two cousins who are currently living in Colesburg, were able to attend the Profession ceremony. Also present were his fellow novices Brian Manyenga and Kenneth Temba from Zimbabwe as well as the new novices Kudakwashe Muparabasa and Lennon Rusike, both from Zimbabwe, Titus Mutiku and Cornelius Omondi both from Kenya and Dan Weston from the UK. Fr Sean Collins from Cape Town represented the Redemptorist Retreat Community. Dominic’s vows were received by Fr Sean Wales, Vicar, in the absence of Fr Larry Kaufmann, Provincial, who was at Julius’ ordination.

The Profession Mass was concelebrated by Fr William Guru, Regional superior of Zimbabwe, Fr Tryvis Moyo, Novice Master and Fr Collins. Many parishioners from St Joseph’s parish were present and the music was coordinated by Luke Goemans and the students, novices and parish organist and choir gave of their best. Fr Wales spoke of the gift of Religious Life to the Church and the gift of Dominic to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.

After the very joyful Mass a splendid dinner was served in the hall below the church, prepared by Mamma Gladys and her team. Dominic left on Monday morning for a short visit to his family in Accra and Kumasi in Ghana.
