The Redemptorist Youth and Vocation Ministry of the Vice-Province of Nigeria held her National Youth Congress between the 12th – 15th August 2021 at the Liguori House Community, Ibadan. The theme of the Congress was “In the Game of Thrones, Who Rules Your Heart.” (Deut 30:19) – A perfect blend of the social/spiritual life of today’s youths.
The Vice-Province of Nigeria hugely sponsored the Program. Under the auspices of the Youth Secretariate Commission, the Redemptorist Youth and Vocation Ministry, spearheaded by the National Coordinator, Fr. Michael Eihebhoria, C.Ss.R, organized this 3 days program to re-kindle and re-invigorate the youth’s commitment towards making a fundamental option to choose the good always over evil. The program was also organized to enlighten the youths on the ‘beauty of Catholic Liturgy’ and help them with the basic skills on ‘Job Preparation and Professional Curriculum Vitae (CV) Writing.’
A total number of 97 young persons across the country attended the Congress. We had liturgical, spiritual, and social activities, such as Holy Mass, Penitential Service, Confessions, Benediction, Rosary Processions with the Icon of our Mother of Perpetual Help. We had a Heart Check for Blood Pressure, Height, Weight and Electrocardiogram. The youths also had time to interact with their peers from different Redemptorist parishes in the different parts of the country where they came from. They had group discussions, swimming exercises, sports, and dinner party. At the end of the dinner party, certificates of participation were issued to participants from various parishes by Fr. Godwin Abbah, CSsR, the Chairman of the Youth Secretariate Commission. The Congress came to a close with a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on the Solemnity of the Assumption.
