Ordinations and Perpetual Profession in the Vice Province of Madagascar

(Madagascar) Two major events took place on 30th of June and 1st of July 2018 here in the Vice Province of Madagascar: the Perpetual Profession of two confreres Fr. Arsène and El-Ardo and then the ordination to diaconate of  two Perpetual Professed Confreres and the priestly ordination of 3 Deacons, Nofy Thémat, Lin Parfait and Ulrich Erico.Two events were celebrated with great joy in the sports field of the town of Anjiro where stands the Church and Parish of St. Gerard.

All the 8 communities on the Malagasy territory as well as that of the island of ‘Réunion’ have come to participate during these two celebrations together with a big participation of religious and lay people gathered both from the surrounding areas and from the far North and South and from the Capital Antananarivo.

The 1st Event: The ceremony of Perpetual Profession was presided over by the Vice-Provincial Rev. Fr. Randriamahefa Alphonse Liguori and concelebrated by about twenty Redemptorists with the presence of the Professed Students, Novices, Postulants, Aspirants and more than a thousand faithful of the place and from all the main places of the ‘Red Island.’

The 2nd event: The diaconal and priestly ordination were presided over by His Excellency Mons. Gaetano Di Pierro, Apostolic Administrator and, the elected Bishop of Farafangana, in the south-east of the island. Around 30 of priests, diocesan priests and Redemptorists participated as concelebrants. All members of the Redemptorist family, Sisters and religious of various congregations, as well as the families of the ordinands and a very large number of Laity, added joy to the great celebration.

Everything was organized well, with dances and songs by local people that brought immense joy and followed by a special lunch for all the participants of the ceremony.
