Africa & Madagascar Emergency Programme:

The emergency programme provides relief support to political crisis, food shortage, natural disasters.  In 2011 the Redemptorists through the the emergency programme provided relief to drought-hit regions in the horn of Africa.  This included  working in partnership with SERVE to supplement an existing School Feeding Programme thereby keeping 31 schools open over the summer months and feeding 7119 children.  In addition, during the acute stage of the drought 300 families benefited from emergency food for work project clearing land for cultivation.  A further 500 families benefited through an agricultural training programme thereby diversifying their livelihoods and mitigating against the risk of solely depending on their live-stock.
