The Redemptorist Vice-Province of West Africa is a missionary community within the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, encompassing several countries in the West African region. It includes the missions in
- Niger,
- Burkina Faso,
- Côte d’Ivoire,
- Ghana,
- Togo,
- Benin.
In these countries, the Redemptorists are particularly committed to proclaiming the Gospel among the poor, the marginalised and the most abandoned.
The Vice-Province brings together missionaries from different cultures and nations and fosters close collaboration with the local Churches. In addition to pastoral work in parishes, shrines and mission stations, the Redemptorists are also committed to education, social development, the promotion of vocations and the formation of lay people.
A particular focus of the Vice-Province is on the formation of young Redemptorists and the promotion of vocations. Through joint formation programmes, pastoral initiatives and missionary projects, cooperation between the various countries is strengthened and the sustainable development of the mission is facilitated.
Through its presence in diverse cultural contexts, the Vice-Province of West Africa helps to strengthen the faith, build community and convey hope, whilst at the same time recognising the region’s cultural diversity as a source of richness for the mission.
