Sustainable Livelihood for older People and Advocacy in Kenya (SLOPAK)

The SLOPAK Project is a three-year initiative (2025–2027) implemented by the Ethel Foundation for the Aged, in partnership with the Redemptorists, to improve the well-being and quality of life of older persons in Nyando Sub-County, Kisumu County.

The project addresses poverty, vulnerability, abuse, and rights violations affecting older people through integrated livelihood empowerment, health and psychosocial support, legal aid, and advocacy. SLOPAK directly supports 1,800 older persons, including persons with disabilities and displaced individuals, while indirectly benefiting over 18,000 community members.

Key interventions include vocational and agricultural support, savings groups, medical camps, mental health services, rights awareness, and intergenerational engagement. Beyond service delivery, the project seeks lasting systemic change by strengthening social protection, influencing county policy, and promoting age-inclusive planning. Rooted in faith and social justice, SLOPAK affirms the dignity of older persons and builds sustainable, community-owned solutions.
