West Africa: COREAM Formators Training in Burkina Faso

COREAM organized a training session for all formators of its Units. This training session began on 14th of July in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, at the Maison Saint Gérard, Redemptorist Scholasticate and ends on 29th of July 2025.

The participants of the session were welcomed on the evening of July 14 at the Maison Saint Gérard, where they were eagerly awaited. The session’s activities began on the morning of July 15. Participants were treated to a comprehensive presentation of the Ratio Formationis Generalis, the Constitutions, the Ratio Formationis of COREAM, and the COREAM Statutes throughout the day by Father Noël SOTTIMA, C.Ss.R. The following three days, July 16, 17, and 18, were given by Father Aristide GNADA, C.Ss.R. introduced the trainees to the world of Consciousness Formation at Formandi. After this journey into the world of consciousness formation, it was Father Justin Bado, C.Ss.R.’s turn to help the trainers take a closer look at the use of social media in the formation of the youth. Our world is more than just digital these days.

After five days of training, the master trainees had a day of rest on Sunday, July 20, 2025. After a well-deserved rest, the participants immersed themselves once again in the spirit of the updating session with Father Jérémie Pogorowa, Instructor at Saints Peter and Paul Kossoghin Major Seminary in Ouagadougou, a diocesan seminary. For two days, July 21 and 22, he accompanied the COREAM participants in the field of the anthropology of today’s youth. He showed them how to understand today’s youth, while suggesting ways to provide personalized and comprehensive training for the Formandi.

Father Joseph Compaore, of the Society of Jesus (SJ), addressed on the youth psychology. On the 23rd and 24th, Father Compaore worked to make the trainers understand that it is essential for trainers to know the psychology of young people in order to better support them.

Indeed, it should be remembered that the trainer is a mediator of meaning. These training sessions are attended by the following Units: Nigeria, Madagascar, Matadi (Congo, DRC), Angola, and West Africa. We wish them well in their training.

Fr. Marc Toguyeni, CSsR.
