On Sunday, September 21, 2025, the Redemptorist family gathered at St. Gerard House for a joyful Thanksgiving Mass, celebrating the ordination of six new priests of the Vice-Province at St. Gerard House, Redemptorist Scholasticate, Ouagadougou:
Fr. Wenceslas SANOU (July 5, 2025), Burkina Faso
Fr. Dennis OPOKU KUSI (July 12, 2025), Ghana
Fr. Samuel Perry ABOTSI (July 26, 2025), Ghana
Fr. Dieudonné DJAMTA (August 23, 2025), Togo
Fr. Maurylle KOSSOUHO (September 13, 2025), Bénin
Fr. Abel NOUNAGNON (September 13, 2025), Bénin
After their ordinations, the young priests returned to the theologate at St. Gerard House to express their gratitude to their formators and to the lay faithful of St. Gerard Chapel who, through their prayer, support, and presence, greatly contribute to the formation of theology students.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Fr. Olivier, CSsR, Vice-Provincial Superior of the Vice-Province d’Afrique de l’Ouest, together with several confrères who came into fraternity and support.
During the Mass, Fr. Pascal SORGHO, who had accompanied these confrères as their Novice Master, delivered the homily. In his message of encouragement and congratulations, he offered three key pieces of advice:
1. Be humble and truthful in your ministry and vocation.
2. Be dynamic in living out your priestly mission.
3. Always remember that you are Redemptorists, religious priests for the Congregation and for the Church.
A highlight of the celebration was also the renewal of commitment by the Redemptorist Lay Associates “THE FLAR”, who continue to collaborate closely in the mission of the Congregation.
The Mass, celebrated in an atmosphere of joy and fraternity, brought together the religious community, the lay faithful, and many friends of the Congregation, all joining in thanksgiving for this grace-filled occasion.
We give glory to God for the gift of the priesthood and for the missionary path that lies ahead of our young confreres. May the Lord accompany them and keep them faithful to their vocation.
Fr. Denis OPOKU KUSI, C.Ss.R.
