Alongside efforts to strengthen foundational learning, the Redemptorist Solidarity Office (RSO) supports a holistic approach to education at BCA School in Andriaka, Madagascar, recognising that children learn best in a healthy, inclusive, and engaging environment.
From March 12 to 14, 2026, a training workshop brought together teachers, students, and the wider school community to introduce practical actions to improve Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), inclusive education, and environmental awareness.
WASH activities focused on building daily hygiene habits through practical demonstrations, including proper handwashing and sanitation practices. Students actively participated in establishing routines and took ownership through the creation of a group of WASH ambassadors, promoting cleanliness and responsibility across the school.

Inclusive education was another key component. Teachers were supported in identifying vulnerable learners and adapting their teaching through differentiated instruction, while students engaged in cooperative activities that promoted solidarity, respect, and peer support.
Environmental education complemented these efforts. Through activities such as tree planting, waste sorting, and awareness campaigns, students developed a sense of responsibility for their surroundings.

The symbolic adoption of trees by student groups strengthened their commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy school environment.
This integrated approach demonstrates that improving education goes beyond the classroom. By engaging teachers, students, and the wider school community, the programme contributes to a school environment where children feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
