Safe water is the foundation of health – yet for many communities in Muvamba in Mozambique, it was long out of reach. Unprotected sources led to waterborne diseases, poor hygiene, and health risks affecting entire families. Now, the improved water systems are producing measurable health benefits.
Health centres report better hygiene habits, improved nutrition, and fewer cases of diarrheal illness – a major improvement, particularly for children. Households also confirm this impact: all respondents reported that their health had improved, either slightly or significantly. This highlights the powerful link between clean water and physical wellbeing.

Another major success is community leadership. Today, 100% of communities befitting from water points in 2025 have active water committees. This achievement goes beyond hardware – it builds accountability, ownership, and long-term sustainability. Trust in these committees has risen from 44.6% to 86%, and more than 73% of households now contribute financially to maintenance. This willingness to invest reflects strong confidence and shared responsibility.
Water has become a unifying force. It strengthens community structures, enhances cooperation, and builds resilience. Families now know that they have the capacity to maintain their systems, protect their health, and shape their future. The Water for All Project shows that when water systems are reliable, they create more than access – they create stability, dignity, and quality of life.
Ensuring access to clean and safe water in Mozambique strengthens health, resilience, and community wellbeing. Your support helps build healthy and strong communities!
