Madagascar: The Mahavoky community celebrates the feast of its patron saint

On June 27, 2026, the Christian community of ECAR Mahavoky – one of the 54 churches in the Anjiro Missionary District, in the Diocese of Moramanga, joyfully celebrated the solemnity of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the community’s patroness. The Mass was presided over by the parish priest, Fr. Hubert Ambinina Aimé Ramananiaina C.Ss.R.

The celebration was a moment of grace, prayer, and thanksgiving, in which the faithful expressed their joy at having the Virgin Mary as Mother, Protector, and Guide on their journey of faith.

The parish of Saint Gerard Majella in Anjiro, entrusted to the Redemptorists of the Vice-Province of Madagascar, carries out its mission in a vast and challenging territory. The local Redemptorist community, composed of three confreres, runs the parish’s 54 churches, manages schools and a medical dispensary in Andrika, and serves a population largely composed of farmers and ranchers living in poverty. The feast of the patron saint is thus also an opportunity to renew the bond between a demanding mission and trust in Mary’s maternal help.

Fr. Hubert Ramananiaina, C.Ss.R.
