Madagascar: First Meeting of the Redemptorist Formandi in Moramanga

The Formation Secretariat of the Vice-Province of Madagascar organized the first gathering of the Redemptorist formandi from 23rd May, Saturday, to 25th of May Monday, in Andranokobaka–Moramanga.

The candidates, currently in the stages of pre-postulancy, postulancy, novitiate, and scholasticate, were inspired by a spirit of mutual understanding and fellowship and enjoyed enriching experiences throughout these three days.

On Saturday evening, after the arrival of the postulants and scholastics from Antananarivo, the activities began with the Pentecost Vigil, including Solemn Vespers and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the novitiate chapel, presided over by Father Eugenio Sakatuala, CSsR, socius of the novitiate.

On Sunday, May 24, from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m., the students in formation attended a conference given by Father Michel Tombofeno, president of the Formation Secretariat of the Vice-Province. He described the Redemptorist vocation as a mystery of love and encouraged the formandi to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the Kingdom of God within the Congregation.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the Solemn Mass of Pentecost was celebrated at the St. Thérèse Catechetical Center. The Mass was presided over by Father Luis Armando, CSsR, director of postulants, and concelebrated by the formators from all stages of formation in the Vice-Province, together with all the candidates, catechists from the Redemptorist pastoral center, and their families.

The moments dedicated to prayer, formation, activities, sports, and shared meals enabled the formandi to know one another better and to relax, in accordance with the recommendation of our Constitutions: “In fraternal dialogue, we must all seek together what will foster prayer and work, solitude and reflection on our lives, rest and relaxation” (Const. No. 45).

Fr. Luis Armando RAVELOJAONA, CSsR.
