Madagascar: First Mass of Fr. Toky and Fr. Sitraka

The parish community of Anjiro, in the Redemptorist missionary district of the vice-province of Madagascar, experienced great joy. Last Friday, November 7, the faithful, religious, and missionaries gathered to celebrate the First Mass of the newly ordained Fr. Toky and Fr. Sitraka, two young Redemptorist priests who generously responded to the Lord’s call.

Let us thank God for the Redemptorist vocation in the Vice-Province of Madagascar!

Fr. Huber Ramananiaina, CSsR.

The Parish of San Gerardo Majella in Anjiro is located in the Moramanga region, in the heart of the Malagasy plateau. It is part of the Redemptorist Vice-Province of Madagascar, an organization born out of the missionary work begun by the Italian Redemptorist Fathers in the 1960s.

Since then, the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer has carried out pastoral and social work of great value: encouraging rural communities, training young people, supporting families, and promoting justice and Christian solidarity.

Today, the vice-province has seven Redemptorist communities and six parishes, including Anjiro, a vibrant center of evangelization and vocational growth. The vocations of Fathers Toky and Sitraka are a concrete sign of the vitality of the Malagasy Church and the missionaries’ commitment to training new workers for the Lord’s vineyard.
