Before introducing you to the pastoral activities that we carry out in the Parish of San Gerardo Maiella in Anjiro, in the diocese of Moramanga, I would like to introduce myself. I am Father Hubert Ambinina Aimé Ramananiaina, a Redemptorist, from the Vice-province of Madagascar.
Our community of San Gerardo is composed of three brothers: two priests, Fr. Gilbert as superior and myself as parish priest, and a brother deacon in charge of the schools and the medical dispensary.
We have 54 churches, whose visits are scheduled every first Friday of the month, when pastoral workers come to the Center for Pastoral and Catechetical Formation. Noting that most of our parishioners are farmers and labourers, we see how urgent it is to organize technical training to help them get out of poverty. This commitment is also a way of evangelization, which helps “the integral development of the human person,” following the social teaching of the Church. We are working on this in our parish together with lay specialists in the field.

The images show the renovation work of the church of San Gerardo.
We also try to respond to the needs of the Diocese, especially in the field of education through our schools. The presence of our medical dispensary in Andrika is incredibly significant in helping the people in the surrounding area. Many of them are so poor that they do not have the means to pay for medicines. We do our best to help them.

In 2024, we renovated the parish church of San Gerardo Majella in Anjiro. On behalf of all the parishioners, we thank Father Gennaro Sorrentino, superior of the Province of Europe South, for the donation of 2,000 euros that he granted us. During his visit to Madagascar, he was able to see the progress of the work.
We also thank the members of the General Council who visited us. Thank you very much for your messages, your testimonies and especially your encouragement for our mission. We truly feel that we are united in Christ.
Fr. Hubert Ambinina Aimé Ramananiaina, C.Ss.R.
