Madagascar: Eucharist for the start of 2026 of the LAR

On Sunday, 11 January, on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the LAR (Lay Associates of the Redemptorists) of Antananarivo held their traditional New Year’s greetings presentation at the Foyer Saint Alphonse.

The activities began with the celebration of the Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Jean-Rémi, CSsR, chaplain of the LAR of the Vice-Province of Madagascar, and co-presided over by Fr. Luís Armando, CSsR, chaplain of the LAR of Antananarivo.

At noon, there was a shared lunch between the LAR and the confreres living in Antananarivo, followed by cultural events.

Fr. Théophile, Vice-Provincial of Madagascar, took the opportunity to inform everyone about the process of restructuring the Congregation and encouraged the laity who share our spirituality not to be indifferent to this new reality of our Congregation.

More than 50 lay people and Redemptorist associates participated in this activity at the beginning of 2026, which also served to plan the next activity of the LAR in the capital: reforestation in Imeritiantosika.

Brother Baltazar Baptista, CSsR.
