The Benin Mission of the Redemptorists, which began in 2017, currently has one community located in Bérécingou, within the Diocese of Natitingou in northern Benin. The mission forms part of the Vice Province of West Africa of the Redemptorists.
The community is an apostolic missionary community dedicated to parish pastoral ministry and forms part of the evangelizing mission of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. Since its establishment, it has developed a vibrant pastoral life centered on proclaiming the Gospel, accompanying the faithful spiritually, and fostering Christian values within the community.
Pastoral activities are structured around the main parish and seven outstations, enabling the community to reach people living in geographically remote areas. The missionaries are responsible for the celebration of the sacraments, catechetical formation, the animation of youth and women’s groups, as well as regular visits to the sick and families.
Despite the challenges related to the vastness of the territory and local realities, the community develops a ministry of closeness, marked by simplicity, listening, and missionary commitment. In this way, it actively contributes to the growth of faith and the integral human development of the local population.
