The Redemptorist Solidarity Office (RSO), in partnership with the Redemptorist Vice-Province of West Africa (RVPWA), supports the COSAF Education Programme in Burkina Faso, funded by Misean Cara’s Member Managed Grant (2025–2027). Building on earlier investments, the programme addresses the urgent need for safe, inclusive, and quality primary education for children affected by displacement, poverty, and insecurity near Fada N’Gourma.
Its main aim is to improve access and quality of primary education for children who are out of school, displaced, living with disabilities, or facing gender-based barriers. COSAF will create 480 school places through six new classrooms and 15 latrines, providing the full primary cycle in a safe, supportive environment. The programme integrates quality education with school health, nutrition support, financial barrier removal, targeted support for girls, and catch-up learning for displaced children, while strengthening teacher capacity and promoting climate justice and children’s rights.
By 2027, the programme expects to reduce out-of-school children, ensure at least 40% of students come from displaced families, and improve foundational learning outcomes, particularly literacy by age ten. Inclusive education outcomes for children with disabilities and school completion rates will also improve. At community level, COSAF contributes to social stability by providing safe learning spaces, psychosocial support, and pathways for vulnerable children, including orphans affected by conflict.
Beyond direct service, the programme strengthens the wider education system through teacher training, community governance, participation in district education forums, and sharing learning on inclusive approaches. Through advocacy and collaboration with national and international education actors, COSAF ensures education remains accessible for children affected by conflict, climate shocks, and displacement, reflecting the Redemptorist mission to restore dignity, promote inclusion, and place those furthest behind first.
